Truck driver robbed by three persons near Kiwale Phata

As per the highway police, the complainant, Tanvir Majid, was on his way from Chennai to Mumbai when he thought of relieving himself near Kiwale Phata at around 5 am

Pune: Taking a loo break turned costly for a truck driver, after he was robbed of Rs 14,200 by three persons, who were in a black Scorpio, near Kiwale Phata on Pune-Mumbai Expressway in the wee hours of Monday.

Officials of the Dehu Road police are in the process of lodging a case against three unidentified persons.

As per the highway police, the complainant, Tanvir Majid, was on his way from Chennai to Mumbai when he thought of relieving himself near Kiwale Phata at around 5 am.

While Majid was climbing back into his truck, the suspects also jumped in and asked him to hand over whatever cash he was carrying.

Majid handed over Rs 14,200 to the suspects, who fled away in their car. He then informed the highway police about the incident, which in turn informed the Dehu Road police, which is investigating the case.

Police officials have frequently warned commuters to avoid halting at isolated places and miscreants continue to take advantage of the situation.
