Triple murders fallout of dispute, say police

Pune: Officials from the city police suspect that the murder of three persons, including a minor boy, was a fallout of a dispute between two groups of ragpickers. Three bodies were found in Nagzari nullah behind the gurudwara in Ganesh Peth, on Friday evening.

The Pune city police have identified one of the deceased persons as Naved Rafiq Shaikh (15), a resident of Nava Mashjid in Ganesh Peth. Attempts are on to identify the other two.

Police have detained two persons for their alleged involvement in the triple murder. The deceased persons and the assailants are ragpickers. Police suspect that the murder was a fallout of a petty dispute between two groups of rag pickers in the area. However, a probe is on to confirm the cause of the murders.

Meanwhile, based on a complaint from Naved's uncle Arif Shaikh, an FIR has been registered against unknown persons for murder at the Faraskhana police station. Police Inspector Rajendra Chavan is investigating the case further
