Traffic chaos at tourist spots

Due to heavy weekend rush, traffic chaos was reported in several tourist spots near Pune. Officials of the Lonavla police said that as there was heavy rainfall from last few days, many areas near Bhushi dam are inaccessible due to heavy water rush. But despite this, tourists continued to flock in large numbers.

Officials of the Lonavla police said that as there was heavy rainfall from last few days, many areas near Bhushi dam are inaccessible due to heavy water rush. But despite this, tourists continued to flock in large numbers. 

Police officials have restricted the entry of tourists and heavy vehicles in the area. Police said that the ban of vehicle entry is helping them in regulate traffic in the area. Traffic chaos was also reported in Pavana Nagar area as the entry to Bhusi dam was closed by around 3 pm, people chose to head towards Pavana Nagar to visit places like Lohgad, Pavana dam and other spots in the area leading to traffic chaos on the approach roads. Police officials said that haphazard parking was one of the major reasons for traffic chaos on the area.

Youth drowns
A 20-year-old youth Raj Babu Shaikh, hailing from Mahalunge village drowned after falling in Bhushi dam on Sunday. Lonavla police said that Shaikh’s body was fished out of water on Sunday and he died due to drowning. This is the third incident of drowning in Bhushi dam this monsoon season.
