Traditional fervour observed at National War Memorial

PUNE: On the occasion of 73rd Independence Day, a wreath-laying ceremony was held at National War Memorial on Thursday to pay homage to the martyrs. The ceremony was attended by military personnel of Pune station along with schoolchildren and citizens of the city.  

A commemorative wreath was laidck by General Officer Commanding Dakshin Maharashtra and Goa Sub Area, Pune on behalf of all service personnel of the station. The War Memorial was open throughout the day for citizens to pay respect to the martyrs. A large number of people from all walks of life visited the War Memorial on the occasion. 

A motorcycle rally organised by NGO, Dhruv Defence Motivation Centre was flagged off from the War Memorial.  

Raksha Bandhan, was also celebrated. A number of volunteers and schoolchildren visited Army units and tied rakhis to the soldiers to express gratitude for the selfless service and devotion to duty displayed by the soldiers  while safeguarding the nation.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION AT PCDA OFFICE
The 73rd Independence Day was celebrated in the office of Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Officers), PCDA(O), in Camp with traditional gaiety and fervour. RK Arora, PCDA hoisted the national flag in the office premises at Golibar Maidan. PCDA, in his address, urged officers and staff to work tirelessly to meet the expectations of Army officers. 

Staff and their families enthusiastically took part in the celebrations and presented a colourful programme.
