Pune: With the increasing globalisation, there is a need for sustainable development and city engineers and architects will play a key role in this, said CM Devendra Fadnavis at the first convocation of SMEF’s Brick group of institutes at Undri on Saturday.

He emphasised that town planners are the need of the hour. “We have grossly neglected town planning. He also added that while many fear that artificial intelligence (AI) will take over the human resource, students should embrace the new technologies and with the help of AI, build affordable housing societies for people of all class. “While building so, they should keep in mind maintenance of the ecosystem of the area as well,” he added.

“As the global temperature has been rising daily, there is a possibility that in the next 20 years, it will rise up by two degrees Celsius. This will have major consequences. Already, we are facing climate change, it will further add to the extinction of species disturbing the food chain,” said Fadnavis.
