Tour operator booked by cops for duping 12 people of Rs. 6.3 lakh

Dattawadi police said that the accused duped the complainant and the 11 others over a period of seven months starting from December 2017

Pune: A dozen people seeking a trip to Lakshadweep and Kanyakumari were duped of Rs 6.3 lakh by a Chinchwad-based tour operator. A case in this regard was registered at Dattawadi police station on Thursday.

According to the complaint filed by Triymbak Tathe (73), a resident of Sinhagad Road, the tour operator took the amount of Rs 6.3 lakh from Tathe and 11 others on the pretext of arranging a tour for them to Kanyakumari and Lakshadweep. 

However, the accused took money from them and later told them that the tour cannot be arranged due to unavoidable reasons and did not return their money.

Dattawadi police said that the accused duped the complainant and the 11 others over a period of seven months starting from December 2017.

Though the accused was told to return the money of his customers and he had said he would do so, he failed to keep his promise and fled. A case of cheating has been registered against the accused tour operator and police said he will be nabbed soon.
