Three Punekars develop device for women’s safety

Pune: Keeping women's safety in focus, three Punekars, Devjeet Saha, Ashish Samant and Dibyendu Joardar have come up with the concept of a device which can send alerts during an emergency situation.

The device - Dromos BT - locates paired phone, tagged items and functions as remote for the phone camera. The device pairs with a smartphone through a dedicated mobile
application.

“The device has been developed completely by Spring Computing Technologies Pvt Ltd, Kothrud, Pune. All the features of Dromos BT can be customised, once the device is paired with the application,” said Saha.

According to the developers, Dromos BT is capable of sending emergency alerts without taking out the paired phone. Pressing the device button twice will send SMS along with Google Location and call the pre-selected phone number. This is a very helpful feature for working women who work late, travel alone during the odd hours, and for the elderly people and children. This is currently an ‘android only’
feature.

“Keepinag the trend of ‘selfies’, Dromos BT functions as a remote controller for the camera on the paired phone. The device can select the front or rear camera and also clicks it,” said Ashish Samant.

For security reasons, Dromos mobile application is developed totally in Pune for Android and iOS.

These mobile applications are free to download and can be installed from Google Play and iStore. The trendy alert tones in the applications are specially composed.
