Three 'passengers' rob autorickshaw driver in Pune

Pune: A 47-year-old autorickshaw driver was robbed by three men who posed as passengers on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday in Pimpri. The robbers took away his autorickshaw and valuables amounting to around Rs one lakh. 

The complainant informed police that on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday while he was waiting outside Akurdi railway station to catch a fare, three men approached him and asked him to drop them at Pimpri. However, on reaching Pimpri, the accused told him that they don't have any money with them and also made a call to their friend using the cell phone of the complainant. The accused then told him that their friend will come to Dapodi, after which the complainant got them to a spot near Khadki railway station where he was robbed by them. 

According to the information provided by Nigdi police, the complaint was robbed when he asked the trio to get off from his auto at a place near Khadki station. The accused snatched away Rs 200 from his pocket, took away his cell phone and then made away with his auto. The identity of robbers has not yet been revealed. Nigdi police have registered a case under section 392 (Punishment for robbery) of Indian Penal Code.
