Three held in Bavdhan murder case

Pune: Officials of the Hinjawadi police have arrested three of the four accused allegedly involved in the murder of a 20-year-old youth in Bavdhan after he refused to pay Rs 500 to one of the accused on Friday evening. A case of murder has been lodged by Hinjawadi police in the case. 

According to information given by the Hinjawadi police, the arrested accused have been identified as Manoj Gavli (21), Bharat Chorge (22), Rajesh Dagde (21) and a person who could be only identified as 'Layan'.

Hinjawadi police said that the deceased Mahesh Walve (22) was at a snacks centre in Bavdhan when Gavli asked him for Rs 500. Walve refused to give Gavli the money, which led to a scuffle between them. The other three accused also beat up Walve, which led to his death.

The victim was rushed to a nearby private hospital, but he was proclaimed dead by the doctors on arrival. The incident came to light after the hospital alerted police, following which Gavli was detained while two others escaped from the spot.

A team of Hinjawadi police station then arrested Bharat and Rajesh and is in search of the fourth accused. Assistant Police Inspector A Pagare, who is investigating the case, said that the accused, Gavli. is a relative of the deceased. The three arrested accused have been remanded to police custody till September 7. Pagare is further investigating the case.

Walve worked as a peon in a college.
