Three cops attacked while trying to stop clash

A senior police inspector and two constables from Yawat police station were attacked by miscreants belonging to two different group when they intervened to stop a brawl between them. The incident occurred late on Thursday in the Dhaygudwadi-Boripardhi area under the jurisdiction of Yawat police, Pune rural police.

Police have booked 25 persons belonging to two different groups for leading the assault on Senior Police Inspector Suraj Bandgar and two constables. Bandgar was critically injured in the attack whereas the two constables received minor injuries.

According to the Yawat police, the miscreants of two groups headed by Najma Mulla and Munna Londhe got together in Dhaygudwadi-Boripardi, Daund on Thursday night. Both groups clashed with other over an old issue.

When the police reached the spot to disengage them, members of both the groups led out an attack on the police, causing injuries to Bandgar and the two constables. Police have registered a case of attempt to murder against 25 people, including Mulla and Londhe.
