Three booked for intellectual property theft

The police said the accused smuggled data of the company owned by complainant Ujjawal Raidani (39) in the period between January 2016 and July 2017.

PUNE: A businessman was duped of Rs 17 crore by three of his employees by intellectual property theft. A case in this regard was registered at Hinjewadi police station. 

The three accused, identified as Rajeev Shrivasatv (37) of Wakad, Nagesh Kinge (37) of Thergaon and Lalit Pradhan allegedly stole confidential data from Polar Techno Software Pvt Ltd and started their own company, Testlab Marine Pvt Ltd.

The police said the accused smuggled data of the company owned by complainant Ujjawal Raidani (39) in the period between January 2016 and July 2017. The accused smuggled the company’s project code, project architecture, process code and other confidential information. After stealing the information, the accused floated their own company in partnership with one of the complainant‘s clients and started dealing with the other clients of the complainant’s company. 

The police said all the accused went absconding after the incident was reported to the police. They have been booked under section 420 (cheating) of the IPC and relevant sections of the Information Technology Act.
