A senior official from the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) told Sakal Times, “There is suspicion about one machine, which has been sent to the lab for examination. The rest of the machines have been certified clean, following which the police allowed us to open the pump.”

However, the Petroleum Dealers Association (PDA) Pune has condemned the action and is going to engage the Thane Courts in an Arbitration, with all the victims, on August 2.

“The action amounts to high handedness by the police and soon, all related associations located in Maharashtra plan to take a united stand, to protest against this injustice,” said Ali Daruwala, the spokesperson of  the PDA.

“Nowadays, it has become a fashion by Thane police to raid petrol pumps. They thereafter call the electronic media and declare that they have unearthed a big scam,” Daruwala  added further.
