Teacher's training programme to soon start at SPPU under 'Teacher Learning Centre'

PUNE: The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has selected Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) to host a 'Teaching Learning Centre' (TLC) under the Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Training (PMMMNMTT) scheme.

The government has sanctioned Rs 7.58 crore for recurring and non-recurring expenses towards the TLC. "To make educational programmes more meaningful and socially relevant, TLC will help teachers in effective teaching and learning. The centre will be a powerful mechanism for engaging students and faculty in their own learning and career development processes. The TLC will create books, booklets, films, documentaries, animation films, models and e-content useful for classroom teaching," read a note released by the university.

Initially, training will be given to teachers from departments of Science (Chemistry, Botany and Zoology), Social Sciences and Humanities (Sociology, Political Science, History, Marathi). The training will be extended to teachers of graduation and post-graduation courses from across the country.
