Teachers can help in progress of human civilisation, says SPPU dean

The FDP was attended by over 170 participants from all over India including colleges, NGOs, schools and medical personnel from various states.

PUNE: Teachers who adapt and reform in this technology-driven era can significantly lead to developments manifesting in the progress of our nation, ultimately leading to the progress of human civilisation, said Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology of SPPU Arvind Shaligram here on Thursday.

He was inaugurating the two-day National Level Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘Electronic Content Development for Effective Teaching’ organised by the Poona College of Arts, Science and Commerce.

The FDP was held in association with Yateemkhana and Madrasa Anjuman Khairul Islam Trust, Mumbai and Knowledge Bridge Founders Bhushan Kulkarni and Eknath Kore.

“The use of digital means for teaching has numerous advantages such as its reach with physical absence of a teacher, impeccable and assured quality along with portability to upgrade and improve,” said Shaligram.

He spoke about the critical importance of the teacher’s role in the development of the nation. The inaugural session was presided over by  Trustee Mirza Salat Baig in the presence of  Principal Aftab Anwar Shaikh, Prof Moinuddin Khan, Prof Iqbal Shaikh, Tarique Imam and the FDP Coordinator Shaikh M Zuber Abdul Majeed. It was convened by Prof Musharraf Hussain.
