Teacher at orphanage held for sexually assaulting two boys

Accused Maulana Raheem works as a teacher at Jamia Arabiya Darul Yatama (Yatim Khana) at RK Colony in Katraj and had been allegedly sodomising the two ten-year-old boys, who ran away from the orphanage because of the sexual abuse.

Pune: A teacher at an orphanage was booked by the Kondhwa police on Friday for allegedly sodomising two minor boys residing at the orphanage.

Accused Maulana Raheem works as a teacher at Jamia Arabiya Darul Yatama (Yatim Khana) at RK Colony in Katraj and had been allegedly sodomising the two ten-year-old boys, who ran away from the orphanage because of the sexual abuse.

The two boys came to the orphanage 15 days ago and had been subjected to the sexual abuses since then. As per the statement given by the boys, Rahim forced them into the act of sodomy and even assaulted them if they raised objections.

The incident came to light when the victims were found at Pune railway station by a child rights organisation, who took the boys to the Child Development Commission at Shivajinagar. The boys narrated their ordeal to the commission, after which a complaint was registered by child rights activist Dr Yamini Adbe at Kondhwa police station. Police have registered a case under the Juvenile Justice Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences 
(POCSO) Act.
