Take action against Bhide: SFWB to NMC

PUNE: The State Family Welfare Bureau (SFWB) will be taking action against Hindutva leader Sambhaji Bhide. He recently made a statement that a number of couples were blessed with sons after eating mangoes from his orchard. The SFWB has decided to take action against Bhide after a health activist from Pune filed a complaint stating that such statements are in clear violation of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act.

Bhide is a former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activist and founder of the Shiv Pratishthan Hindustan. PM Modi considers himself his disciple.

The letter by the SFWB has directed the Health Department of Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) to take appropriate action against Bhide.

The letter dated June 12, stated that two television channels carried the story where the founder of Shiv Pratishthan Hindustan, Manohar alias Sambhaji Bhide said, “I gave more than 180 couples mangoes from my orchards of which 150 couples were able to conceive. Whoever wanted sons were blessed with sons.”

The health activist from the city wrote to SFWB on Monday highlighting the statement made by Bhide and underlining the responsibility of the department to launch a case against those who violate PCPNDT act.

MANS APPEAL
Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti (MANS) has appealed to the government to file a complaint against Sambhaji Bhide, founder of the Shiv Pratishthan Hindustan and former RSS activist stating that his statement will fuel superstition.
