Pune: For the first time, the Sardar Vallabhbai Patel Cantonment General Hospital (SVPCGH) of Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) will use the Government E-Market site (https://gem.gov.in/) to procure medical equipement and machines at nominal rates. Till date, the tendering process of any medical machine had to go through online bidding.
The hospital is aiming to develop the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) via the new method. Currently, the Outpatient Department of the hospital handles over 600 patients daily.
DN Yadav, Chief Executive Officer of PCB, said, “Due to lack of an ICU unit in the hospital, we had to transfer critical patients to private hospitals. But this move will strengthen the cantonment hospital’s services and ensure better health care to residents.”

- SVPCGH is working in consultation with Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC)
- The hospital administration and medicine department of AFMC have stepped in for the first time to make the unit more technology driven.
- New lighting technology in the unit will be installed.
