Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to conduct socio-economic survey of newly merged villages. Before making the Development Plan (DP) of these merged villages, the corporation wants complete information structure ready with them of these merged villages.
The PMC DP cell has submitted a proposal to the Standing Committee to assign Pune-based Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics to do a socio-economic, demographic and housing survey. In February 2017, the State government decided to merge Lohegaon, Shivane-Uttam Nagar, Shivane, Mundhwa Hadapsar-Sadesatara Nali, Ambegaon Khurd, Undri, Dhayari, Ambegaon Budruk, Uruli Devachi and Phursungi with the PMC.
In June, the PMC formed 15-member team to study existing land use, provision for roads and amenity space in these villages. The DP will ensure planned development with amenity spaces and provision of infrastructure such as roads, garden, health centres, schools, residential area, playgrounds, open spaces and cultural halls.
Rajendra Raut, Superintendent Engineer of DP Cell said, “The survey will help introduce reservations of different amenities as per social and economic background of area.”
