Student drowns in quarry in Dehu Road

The deceased boy was identified as Shubham Survade

Pune: A 15-year-old boy died after falling in a stone quarry located at Dehu Road here on Tuesday evening. The body was recovered by the team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Wednesday morning.

The body of deceased was taken to Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital located at Pimpri for post-mortem after which a case of death was registered at Dehu road police station.

The deceased boy was identified as Shubham Survade, a resident of Chincoli in Dehu Road. Survade was a Std X student from Kendriya Vidyalaya on Dehu Road.

Subhash Survade, father of the deceased has held the school responsible for the death. He said, “My son and another student had a fight with each other in the classroom over an argument related to the tattering of a drawing book. My son was called up in the staff room and threatened by the principal and parents of the other student. He was suspended by the school for three days and was upset. He didn’t inform anybody in the house about it. In the evening, he left for coaching classes and jumped into the stone quarry.

Principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Dehu Road, said, “Shubham, along with three other students, had badly beaten up a boy in the school on Saturday. We suspended him for three days and asked him to come to school with his parents. He was supposed to come to school with his parents so that we could have cancelled his suspension letter.”
