Student of CoEP commits suicide

The deceased, Nehal Shrikrishna Thakre, hailed from Kalyan (Thane) and was studying in the third year of the engineering course. 

Pune: A 21-year-old student from College of Engineering, Pune (CoEP) allegedly committed suicide on Sunday by hanging himself in the college washroom. 

The deceased, Nehal Shrikrishna Thakre, hailed from Kalyan (Thane) and was studying in the third year of the engineering course. 

Though a suicide note was not found, officials from Khadki police station said Thakre was not interested in studying engineering. He was more interested in studying literature, especially crime fiction.  

According to the police, Nehal was found hanging in the washroom in the main building of the college. A security guard saw him hanging and alerted his superiors around 7.30 am on Sunday. 

The police are investigating all possibilities in the case.

PSI SB Bhosale, who is investigating the case, said, “We are investigating the case by talking to his friends and family members.”  

At present, a case of accidental death has been registered.
