Structural audit of Circuit House for helipad cleared

The proposal of the helipad had been pending for 4-5 years and was waiting for clearance from defence authorities, as many defence establishments are located close to the circuit house.

PUNE: Following the clearance for a helipad on the rooftop of VVIP circuit house by defence officials, the Public Works Department (PWD) will conduct a structural audit of the circuit house to address safety issues of the building.

The proposal of the helipad had been pending for 4-5 years and was waiting for clearance from defence authorities, as many defence establishments are located close to the circuit house.

Executive Engineer of PWD Bharatkumar Baviskar said that following the nod from the defence authorities, they have asked COEP to conduct the structural audit of the building for the helipad. "The helipad was made following all rules and regulations. We have started the work of placing reflectors, lights and painting work on the helipad. Following the structural audit, we will submit the report to defence authorities for further approval," added Baviskar.

Officials of PWD said that president, vice-president, prime minister, governor and chief minister can use the helipad and while using the helipad, all concerned authorities have to be informed about the landing and take-off, each time. The helipad is yet to be used and was constructed four years ago.
