Stop giving permission to builders who are refusing to supply water: Residents

Pimpri: Forced to spend a fortune on tanker water, residents  of Chikhali and Moshi areas of Pimpri Chinchwad recently submitted a memorandum to the PCMC.

They demanded that PCMC should stop giving permission to developers who are refusing to supply water to the residents.
The residents pointed out the inadequate water supply, air pollution due to burning of scrap by illegal scrap dealers, and poor condition of roads in the areas.

A delegation of the residents called on PCMC Additional Commissioner Pravin Ashtikar and submitted the memorandum of demands, said Malhari Madane, member of Chikhali and Moshi Housing Society Federation.

Madane said the PCMC should intervene as the PCMC has made developers submit affidavits that they would provide water till Bhama Askhed and Andra dams are completed. The residents demanded that the PCMC refuse permission for other schemes to developer who are not supplying drinking water to residents in Chikhali and Moshi. The residents said they are left with no option but to spend money on tanker water.

Ashtikar assured them that the civic body will try their utmost to provide water to these societies.

About air pollution due to burning of scrap by illegal scrap dealers, Madane said, “The air quality of the area is deteriorating and it is compromising the health of residents.”  When asked about this, Ashtikar said action will be taken against illegal scrap dealers.

The residents said due to incomplete road network, water logging is there at many locations in the area. So the PCMC must address these problems as early as possible. Ashtikar said PCMC has undertaken road development work wherever land is available. The land acquisition for the remaining portion
is in progress.
