Stolen valuables worth Rs 18.45 lakh recovered

PUNE: Officials from Yerwada police station have nabbed two history-sheeters and claimed to have recovered stolen valuables worth Rs 18.45 lakh. Police said that the duo used to be well-dressed to avoid being detected. 

The arrested accused have been identified as Jaywant alias Jaydya Gowardhan Gaikwad (32) of Aundh and Nitin alias Hublya Shankar Jadhav (25) of Mundhwa. 

DCP (Zone 4) Prasad Akkanouru said, “We have solved 15 cases till now and recovered stolen booty worth Rs 18.45 lakh. There are 88 burglary cases registered against Gaikwad in the past.”

According to police, Gaikwad and Jadhav, a pick-pocketer, got acquainted while they were lodged together at the Yerwada Central Jail. After being released on bail, they started committing burglaries together. They had bought a Captiva car and used to roam around wearing nice dresses. At night they used to commit house break-ins and during the daytime they used to do pick-pocketing buses. 

The duo was caught by a team led by PSI Mangesh Bhange and policemen Ashok Gavli, Navnath Mohite, Manoj Kudale, Pankaj Musale, Hanmant Jadhav, Sameer Bhorde, Ajay Padole and Bahirat. 

ACP Shivaji Pawar, Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Kadam, In-charge of Yerwada police station, Inspector (crime) Ajay Waghmare supervised the investigation team.
