Pune: Former students and teachers of St Joseph Boys’ High School Khadki contributed Rs 3 lakh to two families of CRPF martyrs, who lost their lives in the Pulwama attack in February this year.

Demand Drafts of Rs 1.52 lakh each were personally handed over to the families of Nitin Rathod and Sanjay Sinh Rajput in Buldhana by the ex-students of the school. Around 160 contributors from India and abroad came forward for this cause.

The drive was carried out by Francis D’Souza (1977 batch), Oliver Fernandes (1980), Rajesh Pardeshi (1986), Rahul Agale (1990), Vikram Nandwani (1993) and Sachin Shinde (1994).

The advisory team of retired teachers comprised of PJ Sebastian,  Kamini Khanna, Meera Janardan and Gilbert Pinto.

Former student of St Joseph Boys’ High School, Shrikant Devle, who is currently residing in Australia, got his non-Josephite friends from Sahyadri Sydney to contribute for this initiative. Teachers who have retired a decade ago also have participated in the drive.

The response was so overwhelming that ex-students from the neighbouring St Joseph Girls School Khadki, in addition to people who are in no way associated with St Joseph, also generously contributed for the martyrs.
