SSS urges citizens to support farmers

The Shetkari Sangharsh Samiti   mentions it will protest against these policies by sending milk from Karnataka and Gujarat, sugar from Pakistan and tur from Mozambique to the CM via the taluka offices. It appeals to farmers to pack small packets of tur, nilk and submit them to the tehsildar as ‘a gift for the CM’. 

Pune: The Shetkari Sangharsh Samiti (SSS), a farmers’ body which has been formed along with the Dudh Utpadak Shetkari Sangharsh Samiti, the two bodies connected with the farmers’ stirke, have come forward with an appeal to citizens to come forward in support of the farmers’ demands.

The appeal, which first addresses farmers and congratulates farmers on ‘sharpening’ the struggle against government policies. The statement highlights issues like the falling rates of milk, failure of the government to give farmers the Minimum Support Price and the import of Tur from Mozambique when there is already a surplus lying with Indian farmer unsold.

The Samiti mentions it will protest against these policies by sending milk from Karnataka and Gujarat, sugar from Pakistan and tur from Mozambique to the CM via the taluka offices. It appeals to farmers to pack small packets of tur, nilk and submit them to the tehsildar as ‘a gift for the CM’. 

The Samiti says it will decide a larger programme against the government policies by taking into confidence farmers and other farmers organisation from June 5 to 9.

The Samiti has decided to appeal to farmers to organise a road blockade protest on June 10 if the government does not respond positively by then. The organisation appeals to citizens not directly involved in farming to ‘leave aside their political affiliations, caste or religion’ and to ‘support the struggle of the farmers and strengthen them.’
