Pune: The Unnati Global Forum, a one-day international event, was organised by Swayam Shikshan Prayog (SSP) to initiate discussion among stakeholders on women empowerment at the grassroots level.

The forum was held on Friday at Orchid Hotel, Balewadi, to highlight the stories of women, who have shown the courage to break the boundaries of society and are now successful entrepreneurs and change leaders. SSP believes these stories should be told to the world to inspire more women.

The Unnati Global Forum experienced participation of about 20 speakers, 500 delegates, around 30 partner organisations and many prominent individuals from the corporate and social entrepreneurship, who shared their thoughts on various topics like ‘women change-makers leading inclusive development’, ‘engaging women farmers to combat climate change’, ‘forging public-private-women led partnerships’ and many more about women empowerment.

Prema Gopalan, founder and executive director of SSP, said, “We want women to become the next generation of job creators. SSP is engaged in creating women entrepreneurs at the grassroots by connecting them with the government, corporates and the last mile rural market.” She further added that the Unnati Global Forum is a platform aimed at bringing different stakeholders under one roof to connect with the rural women leaders who are tackling global challenges at the
local level.

Rashmi Bansal, writer, entrepreneur and motivational speaker, said, “It is important to write new stories of inspiring women leaders to make programmes like Beti Bachao, Beti Padao more effective. Our girls studying in schools can be inspired to dream and think big in their lives if they are made to read the stories of grassroot women who have emerged as leaders of their communities and braving all the challenges that came their way.”
