Pune: Members of Pimpri Chinchwad Sehar Sudharak Committee (SSC)submitted an application to the commissioner of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) highlighting the need of better facilities at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) Hospital in Pimpri.
Around seven members from the committee submitted this application on Tuesday to PCMC commissioner demanding that a committee should be formed headed by an official from the state health department to check the allegations by the SSC.
Speaking with Sakal Times, Dr Suresh Beri, General Secretary of SSC said that one major problem with the hospital is inadequate doctors and staff.
“Due to staff shortage, there are cases wherein there was a delay in treating the patients. Many departments at the hospital also are shut as there are no doctors and staff. Due to understaffing, urology and plastic surgery departments are closed. Psychiatrists, as well as skin specialists, are also not available,” said Beri.
He also highlighted that due to inadequate staff, the existing doctors cannot work up to their full potential. He further mentioned that this hospital caters to health care for many needy and underprivileged families.
The committee also suggested checking of financial transactions.
