Around 2,000 senior citizens attended the programme. The programme was essentially conducted to spread awareness among senior citizens on how to deal with any critical situation.

Shah said, “Mostly senior citizens are accused of harassment done to their daughter-in-law or sons. In such cases when they call the police for help, the police tend to neglect them or the senior citizens have to follow a long procedure.”

He added, “Now a special provision had been made that if any senior citizen has any problem they can directly go to Police Commissioner’s office..”

Gorhe said, “Since there is no special provision made for senior citizens in the law. I will surely take this matter to the ministries and find a solution for it as soon as possible.”

Help at hand
Shah said “Now a special provision had been made, that if any senior citizen has any problem they can directly go to Police Commissioners office. There is a separate wing called senior citizens wing, where the issues will be seriously looked upon and action will also be taken immediately.”
