SPPU urged to approach State govt to resolve STES problems

Pune: The Management Council on Wednesday asked the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) to appeal to the State government to formulate an administrative body to resolve the prolonged matter of Sinhgad Technical Education Society (STES).

A special Academic Council and Management Council meeting was held regarding the STES chaos. The council was of the view that the university should recommend to the State government to form an administrative body under section 31 ZK of Maharashtra Public Universities Act, 2016.

Considering the welfare of STES students, the Academic Council decided to postpone the in-semester examination which was to be held on March 5 and will be now held after the theory examination is over.

As reported earlier by Sakal Times, students are suffering academic loss due to no regular lectures and practicals being conducted because of the ongoing protest against the Sinhgad institute management.

For over three months, professors of STES have been staging several protests on the issue of pending salaries of 15 months. Recently, Vice-Chancellor of SPPU, Nitin Karmalkar also came out in support of the professors and students assuring that the varsity will take necessary action against the educational institute management.
