SPPU launches post doctoral fellowship

Pune: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has launched the ‘Savitribai Phule Pune University Postdoctoral Fellowship (SPPU-PDF) Programme’ and has become the first State University to offer a post-doctoral fellowship.

Website of the programme was inaugurated in the presence of NS Umrani, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (VC) of SPPU, and professors from the university on Tuesday.

The fellowship will be granted to those meritorious PhD degree holders from science, technology, commerce, humanities, languages faculties. Only Maharashtra domiciled candidates can avail the fellowship.
Eligible candidates can start applying online tentatively from September 1.

SPPU-PDF programme is aimed at enhancing the quality of research at SPPU and generating trained manpower for taking up research and teaching careers.

The scheme is created to work mostly electronically and it will be a full-time research programme. These fellowships are open to researchers below the age of 32 years. The age relaxation for reserved category, women, etc, will be given as per the rules and regulations of the government of Maharashtra.

“A good mix of graduate, doctoral and postdoctoral fellows are considered as potential faculty for the academic institutes across the globe. All the top academic institutes in the world promote such research activities,” said officials from SPPU

 “However postdoctoral research culture is not widely established in India. With this in mind, SPPU has launched the fellowship programme,” the officials from SPPU further added.
