SPPU convocation will be held today

Pune: The 113th convocation ceremony has been organised by Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) at the new examination department near the main building on Friday.

The convocation ceremony will be held at 5 pm, while the students will be awarded the degrees between 11 am and 4 pm.

Dnyaneshwar Mulay, Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs will be present as chief guest at the event. 

As many as 7,242 graduates who have completed their courses on and before 2016-17 will receive their degree certificates at the convocation ceremony. 

Savitribai Phule Pune University will award degrees to 104 PhD holders, 54 of MPhil courses, 3,006 are master’s degree students, 63 of postgraduate diploma courses, 3,994 of degree courses and 21 of diploma courses. 

While gold medals will be awarded to 11 students. Among which six gold medal awardees are for best MTech thesis. They are Devyani Patil, Akash Hajari, Uday Sutar, Gambhir Vidyadhar, Sayali Kale, Sudhir Mali, followed by best PhD thesis, Anushree Kogje, Bhushan Garware and Pragya Dixit. 

Tayaron Miranda will get a gold medal for securing the first position in Geology department while Zohrazubeen Shaikh will get a gold medal for securing the first position in the integrated course of BSc-BEd in 2016.
