SPPU’s VC appointed as Chairperson of BSIP

BSIP is an autonomous institute under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, New Delhi, dedicated to both fundamental and applied aspects of plant fossil research.

PUNE: Nitin Karmalkar, Vice Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has been appointed as Chairperson of Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences (BSIP) in Lucknow. 

The selection has been done by the science and technology department of the Central government.  

BSIP is an autonomous institute under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, New Delhi, dedicated to both fundamental and applied aspects of plant fossil research. Palaeoscience is a study of early man, it also studies about fossil plants and fuel, changes in the atmosphere, forest conservation etc. 

This institute has been connecting for research and studies with universities “This new collaboration will help students of Maharashtra in the area of research and provide new paths and opportunity in it,” said an official from the varsity.
