Pune: To increase the enrolment of first-time voters, Divisional Commissioner Deepak Mhaisekar has approached the heads of universities in Pune, Kolhapur and Solapur.
While addressing a press conference, Mhaisekar said the number of youths on the voters’ list appears to be less. Therefore, a special enrolment drive is to be held on March 2 and 3.
“Youths should benefit from the special drive and enrol themselves. Our preparation for the upcoming election will be completed by March-end. We are also focused on providing necessary facilities for the specially-abled persons,” added Mhaisekar.
He said people should call on 1950 (toll-free) if they have any problem related to the election.
In all there are 19,842 polling booths in Pune division which includes Pune, Solapur, Satara, Sangli and Kolhapur areas. “If citizens find people indulging in malpractices, they can upload photos and videos of the same at C-Vigil mobile application. The identity of the citizen can be kept anonymous. Our flying squads will reach in 15 minutes,” added Mhaisekar.
