Special Cover released to honour BAIF

PUNE: A ‘Special Cover’ and ‘Special Cancellation’ were issued to BAIF Development Research by the Department of Posts, India, Office of the Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra Circle, Mumbai on Friday at a ceremony held at the head office of BAIF, Warje, Pune.

BAIF, established in 1967 by former President of India Dr Zakir Hussain, is currently  promoting technologies to rural poor.  More than 5 million families from 80,000 villages in 16 states have benefitted from BAIF’s programmes.

The Special Cover also highlights the value of postal communication, its reliability and affording ability for people from all walks of life.

The Special Cover and Special Cancellation were issued to commemorate the 98th birth anniversary of Founder of BAIF, Dr Manibhai Desai, an associate of Gandhiji and as a part of the Golden Jubilee celebration of BAIF.

The Special Cover with Special Cancellation was released by AV Gaikwad, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Pune City, West Division, Pune in the presence of a senior team of officials from the Department of Posts comprising FB Sayyad, Assistant Postmaster General, Pune, AK Chinchole.
