Son-in-law sets mom-in-law ablaze

Pune : A 38-year-old woman has sustained 20 percent injuries after her son-in-law set her on fire, suspecting her and his wife's brother of conspiring to injure his wife. 

Based on the complaint, Bibvewadi police station have booked accused Asif Aslam Mujawar of Dange Chowk and two others for attempt to murder, robbery. Sultana Mohammad Shaikh of Bibvewadi has lodged the FIR in this regard.

Based on the complaint, Bibvewadi police station have booked accused Asif Aslam Mujawar of Dange Chowk and two others for attempt to murder, robbery. Sultana Mohammad Shaikh of Bibvewadi has lodged the FIR in this regard. 

According to police, about six months back Mujawar had a love marriage with Shaikh's daughter Parween (20). Her family was opposed to this marriage. Recently Mujawar's wife sustained injuries after she fell down from the bike of her brother Saddam who was taking her to snacks centre for eating Paani-Puri. She had got injuries to her chin and was admitted in Sassoon hospital.

Mujawar believed that his wife was intentionally injured by Sultana and her son. Following this Mujawar and his accomplices reached her house in Bibvenagar around 2.30 pm on Monday and quarreled with Sultana and her son. Later he sprinkled petrol on her and their room and set her on fire. Mujawar allegedly fled with Rs 50,000 and 60 gram gold ornaments kept in the cupboard. They locked the room and abducted Saddam. The neighbors rescued Sultana and informed police.
