Six held for extortion bid

“Siraj and other suspects accosted Hussain’s vehicle after banging it from behind. The suspects assaulted him after which Hussain became unconscious. They used his mobile phone to make threatening calls and demand an extortion amount.” said Dahane.

PUNE: Officials of Crime Branch Unit III on Thursday arrested six history sheeters for trying to extort Rs 11.05 lakh from a plumbing contractor. They had locked him up at an isolated place for three days.

The accused have been identified as Mukesh Maruti Raut (33) of Chinchwad, Nilesh Kishore Kokare (20 ) of Chinchwad, Siraj Rustam Ansari (25) of Chikhali, Raju Vilas Gaikwad (35) of Phulenagar, Ashok alias Lambya Bhimrao Jawale (35) of Mulshi and Vijay Baban Wadekar of Donje.

As per DCP (Crime) Pankaj Dahane, the complainant, Mohammad Hussain, is a plumbing contractor and Siraj was his former employee, who was aware of all his details. 

“Siraj and other suspects accosted Hussain’s vehicle after banging it from behind. The suspects assaulted him after which Hussain became unconscious. They used his mobile phone to make threatening calls and demand an extortion amount. The suspects moved Hussain to an unidentified location and kept him locked up for three days,” said Dahane. An offence has been registered against the suspects at Kondhwa police station.
