Sitharaman to attend DIAT convocation

Pune: The 10th convocation of Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (deemed to be University), near Khadakwasla, is scheduled to be held on May 25. Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who is the Chancellor of DIAT, will preside over the ceremony and also deliver the convocation address. 

The institute conducts various academic programmes such as PhD, MTech, and Master of Science (by research) and many customised short courses in defence and related technologies for the officers of tri-services, scientists of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and other organisations of Ministry of Defence/government agencies, as well as civilian students and engineers. During the 10th convocation, a total of 258 graduating students, including 24 PhDs and 234 MTech students, will be conferred with degrees.

Dr Hina Gokhale, DG HRD DRDO, who is Vice-Chancellor of DIAT, said, “The institute strives to fulfil its objectives of serving the needs of defence. DIAT is offering 25 specialisations in seven M Tech programmes from  academic year 2018-19. The specialisations have bearing on defence technologies such as guided missiles, air armaments, unmanned aerial vehicles, armament and combat vehicles etc.”
