Sinhagad, Pragati Exp cancelled for today

Pune: The incessant rains in Mumbai forced the railway administration to cancel Sinhagad and Pragati Express trains on Tuesday. Train number 11010/11009 Pune-CSMT-Pune Sinhagad Express and 12126/12125 Pune-CSMT-Pune Pragati Express have been canceled and will not run on Wednesday.

The railway authorities took the decision as a precautionary measure. “The decision has been taken after an alert from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) about heavy rain forecast and high tide in Mumbai,” said Manoj Jhawar, spokesperson of Pune division. The decision affects thousands of office-goers who travel daily on these trains.

Shekhar Rawoule, who works at Prakashgad, said, “Every year, we battle with rains. But cancellation of the trains really affects the entire work schedule as we can’t take an off from office, nor we can reach office on time.”  Satish Chavan, who also works with Rawoule, said, “Going to Mumbai daily is becoming difficult with each passing year as every year either rains or poor administration of the railways cause inconvenience.”

Trains affected from July 4
The railway administration has decided to cancel two local trains running between Pune and Lonavla from July 4 to 7 due to technical and maintenance work of railway tracks. Train number 99816/99815 will be cancelled for four days. Similarly, train number 99818 and 99813 Pune-Lonavla locals will be cancelled between Talegaon and Lonavla. This train will run only between Pune and Talegaon. Train number 11008 Pune-CSMT Deccan Express will be halted for 10 minutes at Talegaon and Kamshet. Train number 12939 Pune-Jaipur and 22943 Pune-Indore Express will halt at Talegaon and Kamshet for 10 minutes.
