Congress alleged that the BJP cheated the public and announced that the party will conduct a ‘silent march’ on Monday

Pune: Congress criticised the BJP on Friday, the day the Union government completed four years. During a press conference at Congress Bhavan, Congress alleged that the BJP cheated the public and announced that the party will conduct a ‘silent march’ on Monday in the city.

Congress city unit chief Ramesh Bagwe said, “We are going to condemn the BJP government by organising a silent march on Monday. It will start from Lokmanya Tilak Statue in Mahatma Phule Market at 10.30 am and end at Keshav Jedhe Chowk in Swargate.”

“The increasing fuel prices is a big failure of the government. The government cheated farmers and the youth. Due to their financial policy, there is adverse effect on banks, industries and commercial establishments. Improper implementation of GST, demonetisation and corruption in Rafael Fighter Aircraft deal are some of the examples of the government’s failure,” said Bagwe.

He further said, “There are eight BJP legislators in the city, one MP and it is also the ruling party in the PMC. But, they could not do anything for Puneities so far.”

On the NCP’s claim to the Pune Lok Sabha seat, Bagwe said, “Pune Lok Sabha constituency is a Congress seat. The PMC elections cannot be a criteria to claim a seat from another party for the Lok Sabha elections.”
