Show cause notices to 3 teachers, headmaster

9-yr-old student was told to serve tea

Pimpri: Asking a 9-year-old student of a school run by the civic body to serve tea to over 200 teachers who attended teachers’ training session is likely to cost four teachers, including the headmaster dearly. The  Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) authorities have issued show cause notices to those responsible for gross violation of child rights at the function, which was organised by PCMC.

Administrative Officer of PCMC School Board BS Awari on Tuesday visited the school where the training session was conducted two days ago.

Teachers sought to brush the blame off their own shoulders in front of Awari. However, Awari issued show cause notice to three teachers and the headmaster.

The incident came to light when a teacher attending the training session captured the image of the student serving tea on his mobile and shared it with Sakal Times. The boy was in his PT uniform and was asked to collect disposable cups from the entire hall.

Awari said, “The incident took place on Saturday and he has been told that the boy came early to the school on that day. The tea vendor has taken help from the boy. Since the reply was not acceptable, the show cause notice to the people responsible for the incident has been issued.”

Teachers, on the condition of anonymity, said the authorities must ask the tea vendors to serve the tea or employ a peon to do the job.
