PUNE: While presenting ‘Phule Pagadi’ to Chhagan Bhujbal, NCP supremo Sharad Pawar appealed NCP workers to never greet with a Puneri Pagadi but with a Phule Pagadi. His words gave wind to the popular perception about Brahminical prominence in the present day State politics, as the Chief Minister belongs to the Brahmin community
Backing Bhujbal, NCP supremo Sharad Pawar shared that the leader will get justice through the judiciary. He said, “In Delhi, Maharashtra Sadan presents the strength of the State, which no one can avoid.”
Threat letters bogus
Pawar claimed that the news that some of the members of the government have received threat letters from Naxalites is a bogus news and said that a retired police officer has confirmed this to him. He expressed his disappointment over progressive leaders of Elgar Parishad being called Naxalites and being arrested. He claimed that it is a misuse of power.
‘I am bringing opposition parties together’
Pawar shared that people often ask him how can the opposition defeat Prime Minister Narendra Modi when they do not have a leader to project. He said that he is in talks with all leaders from several political parties and is forming a bridge. Communists from Kerala, Mamata Banerjee from West Bengal, leaders from Orissa, Rajasthan, Karnataka wish to come together, he said, adding that he is trying to bring them together.
‘Stop use of EVMs’
Pawar said, “The first-time voters are suspicious about EVMs.” He said that in Bhandara and Gondia, despite his party pulling off a victory, NCP had complained that up to 3 pm machines were not working. He shared that responding to their complaint, the Election Commission has given a written reply that 64 election centres were non-functioning. He appealed all non-BJP forces to approach EC and stop the use of EVM.
