Shaina dodges questions on note ban, terrorism

Pune: Dodging queries by reporters on demonetisation and cross-border terrorism, BJP national spokesperson Shaina NC, on Saturday, instead preferred to list out the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government on the occasion of its completion of three years in power.

She was addressing a press meet in the city. Shaina claimed the Modi government rolled out many public welfare schemes. Citizens of India have started getting real benefits of such schemes after almost 60 years of independence.

She spoke at length about the public welfare schemes like Sukanya Samridhi Yojana, Ujwala Yojana, Beti Bachav Beti Padhav Yojana, Prime Minister Skill Development Scheme, etc. She credited Modi for the country’s development. “When we came to power three years back, we had to start from scratch. Now India has gained its self-respect and is being respected across the globe,” Shaina said.

She also gave the entire credit for passing the long-pending GST bill in the Parliament to the BJP government. She said the new tax system will help the Indian economy grow.

Speaking about the ongoing farmers’ agitation across Maharashtra, she said there is a political conspiracy behind the strike. “The Devendra Fadnavis government will definitely help farmers. Work in this regard has already started with the formation of a committee under Revenue Minister Chandrakant Patil,” she said.

When asked about the after-effects of demonetisation, cross-border terrorism, the government failing to generate employment and the low GDP, Shaina NC, who is also the BJP national executive member, said the government formed an SIT to unearth black money, modified Benami Properties Act and carried out surgical strikes to give a strong message to Pakistan.

When asked why black money and cross-border terrorism did not stop despite demonetisation and surgical strikes, she avoided a direct answer.

Reacting to Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut threatening the Fadnavis government over its stability, she said the State government was very much stable. It was doing good work but the Shiv Sena leader was making such statements to remain in the limelight.
