Session court rejects bail application of Dhananjay Desai

Pune: A session court, on Thursday, has rejected the bail application filed by Dhananjay Desai. The court of special judge RN Sardesai rejected the bail application of Desai.

The court had reserved the order on the bail application of Desai for around two weeks and finally rejected it.

Previously, the court of Judge Sardesai rejected the provisional bail plea of Dhananjay Desai, the prime accused in Mohsin murder case in August 2017. Desai had filed a bail application on medical grounds, which was rejected by special judge RN Sardesai of the court. However, he has filed a new bail application, which was heard in court on January 18 and was given the next date of hearing on January 22.

Desai was arrested by the police in June 2014 for his alleged involvement in a conspiracy, which led to the murder of 28-year-old Mohsin Sheikh, who was murdered by members of Hindu Rashtra Sena on June 2 in Hadapsar.

After the withdrawal of Ujjawal Nikam from the post of the special public prosecutor (SPP) in the Mohsin murder case, his father Sadiq Sheikh asked the State government to appoint Adv Rohini Salian as the SPP. Although Salian accepted to fight the case, the government didn’t appoint her to the case.

Later, Sheikh appealed to the government to appoint Ujjawala Pawar as the SPP.
