Services, fine arts are top draws for students: Test

PUNE: Uniformed Services and Fine Arts generate the maximum interest among the students from the state. These were the findings according to the report of the aptitude tests conducted by the Maharashtra State Board for Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.

The test was conducted state wide for students appearing for the Std Xth board examination. The results will be available online for the students on Saturday, at www.mahacareermitra.in. Hard copies of the result will be given to students between March 16-22. The test was conducted by the Shyamchi Aai Foundation (SAF) .

In four out of nine divisional boards, Uniformed Services was the first preference, while Performing Arts was of maximum interest in three divisions.

As per the report, 36 per cent of the students chose the two above mentioned choices out of the total seven fields of interest as their first preference. Commerce followed closely as the second preference with 17 per cent of the students opting for it.

A total of 16,13,609 students from 22,122 schools in the state took the test this year. For the first time, this year, the test was conducted through a mobile app. While the results of the test are usually handed over to the students at the time of the board exam results, this time, they were released sooner to aid the students to understand their line of interest. As Sakal Times had reported earlier, Pranav Pendse, senior project manager, SAF had stated that this was done to help students think about their interest and make an informed career choice.

Also, this year, along with finding out the fields of interest of the students, the test also determined their aptitude and capabilities in those fields. “Thus, even if the students had maximum interest in a particular field, he/she may not have the aptitude for it. We have not released that data to maintain the privacy of the students. But, this may be the reason, if these numbers do not reflect in the subsequent admissions,” Sheetal Bapat, Founder Director, SAF said.

HOW TO CHECK
The students will be able to check their test results by entering their SSC examination seat number. A video of their field of interest is also available to watch on the website. Similarly, they will also be able to check the courses pertaining to the same in their districts.
