Pune: Money transactions of 41 online services provided by Regional Transport Offices (RTO) have been severely affected due to the failure of State Bank of India (SBI) payment gateway on their website. Therefore, work such as learning license, RC, duplicate RC, permit, etc, are not being processed at Pune RTO. Many applicants have been suffering since the last four days as their work is still pending.
There is a facility of online payment for many things like learning license, permanent license, vehicle passing, vehicle tax, vehicle permit, vehicle transfers, etc. E-payment facility was launched in November.
In the Pune RTO office, 200 to 250 vehicles per day and on the Alandi road, 100 to 150 vehicles for the vehicle license (learning license) examination is conducted. Since payments are not happening online, the appointment given to hundreds of applicants for learning license and permit licenses have been wasted.
The e-payments for Pune RTO office is done through NIC and SBI. However, due to the work of the bank's security, the obstacles in the process of e-charge are being obstructed. Thus, the collection of more than Rs 2.5 crore has reduced to Rs 1 crore per day. The bank and the NIC are being pursued by the RTO office to streamline the e-payment process. Meanwhile, the bank surveillance is underway. There is no work done in the RTO due to the failure of the bank's security. However, the work of learning license and permanent license is not going on smoothly.
Deputy RTO Sanjay Raut said that the RTO administration is being repeatedly contacted by the bank administrator to get the repair done as soon as possible.
Sumit Gokhal, an applicant, who has been visiting continuously since Monday, said, "I applied for learning license, all procedures are done except payment. I approached the RTO official and they said that it will take time. Since Monday, I have been coming to RTO. They are saying after completion of payment procedures, I have to come for learning license test."
