Senior citizen loses Rs 1.51 cr to fraudsters

An 84-year-old man has filed a complaint at Shivajinagar police station alleging that he was cheated to the tune of Rs 1.51 crore by unidentified persons, who posed as officials of an insurance company. 

Pune: An 84-year-old man has filed a complaint at Shivajinagar police station alleging that he was cheated to the tune of Rs 1.51 crore by unidentified persons, who posed as officials of an insurance company. 

Following the complaint, police have lodged a case of cheating against six persons in the case. As per information given by the police, the incident occurred between March 27 and November 13 last year. 

Police said that the victim had different insurance accounts and he was approached by the fraudsters in March last year.
 
The fraudsters informed him that he was holding different insurance accounts and the interest benefits from these accounts have amounted to Rs 3 crore and he can avail the amount.

The fraudsters then informed the victim that he needs to pay registration fee, tax and precessing fee. The victim did as instructed and paid Rs 1.51 crore. 

However, the fraudsters later stopped attending his phone calls.
