Scrap ring rd proj: Oppn in PCMC

Since thousands of houses will be demolished for the project, ring road affected people are opposing the decision of constructing the ring road. All the political parties in the city are capitalising on the public sentiments. Hence, city unit chiefs of NCP, Shiv Sena, MNS and Congress have decided to extend their support to the public

Pimpri: All political parties in Pimpri Chichwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) except Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unanimously demanded that the government scrap the ring road project. City unit presidents of all the opposition parties informed mediapersons about their demand during a press conference on Monday.

Since thousands of houses will be demolished for the project, ring road affected people are opposing the decision of constructing the ring road. All the political parties in the city are capitalising on the public sentiments. Hence, city unit chiefs of NCP, Shiv Sena, MNS and Congress have decided to extend their support to the public.

NCP’s city unit chief Sanjog Waghere, Shiv Sena city unit chief Rahul Kalate, Congress city unit chief Sachin Sathe, MNS city unit chief Sachin Chikhale, social activist Maruti Bhapkar, Devendra Tayade of Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh and Harish More of Peasant and Workers Party were present during the press conference.

Similarly, farmers in Maval taluka are also opposing the ring road project. Chief Executive Officer of PMRDA is going to visit the areas affected by ring road on Tuesday. Waghere said, “Taking public interest into account, State government must consider removing reservation for ring road. BJP MLA Laxman Jagtap has humiliated the citizens. BJP-led government is pushing this project in an anti-democratic way.”
