Science, art contest held by Exciting Science Group

The topics for the competition were ‘If I were an astronaut, A day in science lab and Science in nature around you.’

PUNE: Roshan Aade from Hutatma Balveer Shirishkumar Vidyalaya has won the Science and Art Competition organised by the Exciting Science Group, a volunteer group of scientists from Indian Institute of Science, Education and Research (IISER) and Centre for Scientific and Industrial Research - National Chemical Laboratory (CSIR-NCL).

Simran Erande and Nikita Kalbhor of Hutatma Balveer Shirishkumar Vidyalaya and Dr Vasantdada Patil Vidyaniketan, School respectively bagged the second and third position. The competition was for the students of Std VIII and IX from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). As many as 200 students took part in the competition. 

This was the fifth year of the competition and Professor Pushkar Sohani (IISER Pune) was the chief guest for the event while scientist and Artist Professor Ambika judged the competition.  

Gayatri Kshirsagar, an associate with the group, said, “Science and Art are correlated; both are based on imagination, innovation and creativity. It is a unique platform for the students to express their ideas about science through art.”
