Schedules of 18 trains affected due to derailment

Pune: Schedules of 18 trains were affected after the derailment of a goods train between Monkey Hill and Khandala on Thursday afternoon.

Around 11 trains were cancelled and seven were diverted or short terminated following the incident.

As per a press release issued by Central Railway, two wagons of a goods train derailed between Monkey Hill and Khandala in Kalyan Lonavla section at 3.55 pm on Thursday. 

The press release stated that the CSMT - Pune Sinhagad Express was short terminated at Karjat.

CSMT-Pune Pragati Express, CSMT-Pune Deccan Queen, CSMT Kolhapur Sahyadri Express, CSMT Kolhapur Mahalaxmi Express, Kolhapur CSMT Mahalaxmi Express, CSMT Latur Express, CSMT Bijapur/Sainagar Shirdi Fast Passenger, Pune CSMT Intercity Express and Pune CSMT Indrayani Express were cancelled.

The press release further stated that CSMT - SUR Siddheswar Express was terminated between CSMT-Pune, LTT-Hubbali Express was diverted via Panvel-Madgaon-Vasco-Hubbali, Kolhapur-CSMT Koyna Express and Pune CSMT Deccan Express, KSR Bengaluru CSMT Udyan Express were short terminated over Pune division. Rajkot-Secunderabad Express was diverted via Kalyan Igatpuri-Manmad-Akola. While Panvel-Nanded Express was diverted via Kalyan-Igatpuri-Manmad-Nanded.

In July, the engine of Mumbai CST-Hyderabad Express got derailed after being hit by a boulder at Monkey Hill between Karjat and Lonavla stations.
