Sarasbaug Mahalakshmi temple trust to fete women during Navratri

PUNE: In order to pay tribute to the women setting examples with their noble work in different walks of life, Trust of the Mahalakshmi Temple near Sarasbaug will be felicitating women police, sanitation workers, nurses, teachers, etc., during Navratri. 

Starting from the first day of Navratri, that is October 10, the Bansilal Ramnath Agrawal Trust has organised several activities to cater to the devotees as well as maintain a sense of social responsibility.

“While we will be holding our regular religious activities like ‘Ghatasthapana’, ‘Kanyapoojan’, etc., on each day, we will also be felicitating and celebrating with the notable women in the city. On October 12, we will be felicitating the women police; on October 13, women teachers with physical disabilities will do the aarti of the Goddess. On October 14, women sanitation workers will be felicitated; on October 16 –  the wives of freedom fighters will be feted. Girls from the city’s orphanages and the schools run by Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will be worshipped in the form of Goddesses and provided with snacks and educational material on October 15,” said Adv. Pratap Pardeshi, member of the Trust.

Along with these, on one of these days around 300 nurses will also be applauded for their work and, a special programme will be organised for the elderly at old-age homes in the city.

“Continuing our tradition of the past 10 years, even this year, we will be taking out insurance worth a total of Rs 5 crore for the devotees coming to the temple during Navratri. We are doing everything to ensure the security of the people coming to the temple. We have installed CCTV cameras right up to the road outside the temple and have employed volunteers and private security agency for crowd management,” said Founder Trustee, Rajkumar Agrawal.
